VALE – Doug Hawkins
It is with sadness that I advise you of the passing of Doug Hawkins, Doug first became a member of the “Institute” (Australian Institute of Health Surveyors, Victorian Division) back in 1965. Doug was made a Fellow in 1982 and advanced to Life Fellow in 1987. Doug was also Victorian President from 1980 – 1982 and an Australian Councillor from 1980 – 1987. Doug was National President of the Australian Institute of Health Surveyors in 1987. Doug also served on a number of committees and was a Churchill Fellowship Winner. Doug Hawkins worked in a number of councils around Melbourne including City of Doncaster & Templestowe (Manningham) City of Camberwell (Boroondara) and the City of Melbourne.
Doug passed away on 2nd April, 2017 at the age of 86 and is survived by his wife of 61 years Marie and his surviving children and grandchildren. For those of you who knew Doug and would like to honour his memory, a Memorial Service is being held at The Gables, 15 Finch Street, Malvern East on Monday April 10, 2017 at 5.30pm. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

Free Melbourne Water Workshops – Register now! Point Source Stormwater Pollution Forum that Melbourne Water’s Living Rivers Program and Clearwater 26 April 2017
The forum is shaping up to be an excellent event and we have identified that it will be highly relevant to Environmental Health Officers and other Environmental Health Professionals. The event will showcase four council point-source pollution projects as case studies, with additional experts from the EPA and Centre for Aquatic Pollution Investigation and Management (CAPIM) also presenting.
